Sustainable Sites Credit 6.2- Storm water Design: Quality Control

SS6.2 has the same intent as SS6.1 but deals with quality control, as opposed to quantity. The civil engineer leads the process by using strategies that are categorized as either alternative surfaces or non-structural surfaces. Alternative surfaces include rain gardens, vegetated swales and rainwater recycling. Non-structural surfaces include vegetated roofs, pervious pavement and grid pavers. Other strategies such as natural and mechanical treatment, constructed wetlands, and vegetated filters can also help achieve SS6.2.

In order to achieve SS6.2, measurable requirements must be met. Your project must treat and capture 90% storm water runoff and remove 80% total suspended solids.
