Credit 4.2-: Bicycle Storage & Changing Rooms
SS4.2 deals with reducing the environmental impact from using automobiles. Implementation can be a choice of two options. The first option is for commercial buildings, providing bike racks for 5% or more of all building users within 200 yards of the building. The facility must also provide changing rooms/showers for .5% of all FTE occupants. FTE, also known as full-time equivalent building occupants, is based on an 8-hour workday. FTE is calculated by dividing the occupant hours by 8.
The second option of SS4.2 deals with residential buildings. There must be storage facilities for 15% of the building residents.
