OSHA Exit Sign Requirements

OSHA, the Occupational Health and Safety Administration, controls the standards for emergency lighting in the United States; you can trust GreenTorch to meet or exceed all of OSHA’s requirements. OSHA requires exits routes to be well lit and have exit signs that both direct occupants toward an exit and are placed directly by the exit. OSHA requires a minimum of 5 foot candle illumination from an exit sign. Exit Signs must have 6” letters with a minimum 3/4” stroke. All GreenTorch exit signs have OSHA required lettering size. Don’t forget that New York requires 8” letters; ExitSigns.com offers a full line of New York approved exit signs. GreenTorch carries grade 2 Braille emergency signs for disabled persons approved by the ADA and required by OSHA.
