Prerequisite 1- Storage & Collection of Recyclables
MR Prerequisite 1 is needed to provide an easily accessible area for on-site recycling, helping assist waste reduction. Recyclable materials must be collected, separated, and stored neatly. Collection sources include aluminum can crushers, recycling chutes, collection bins, and cardboard balers.
Materials that must be collected include glass, plastic, office paper, newspapers, cardboard, and other organic wastes. Buildings are encouraged to educate their occupants about the importance of recycling. The minimum recycling area guidelines are applied using the CIWMB 1999 - California Integrated Waste Management Board.
