Materials and Resources Credit 3.1-3.2-Materials Reuse: 5,10%

The intent of MR3 is to reuse materials from the building to lessen the demand for virgin materials. Calculations are done by the contractor and architect, and are based on cost. Items must be salvaged, refurbished or reused.

MR3 is one of the harder credits to achieve due to the minimal amount of opportunities for use of these materials. Reused products that are commonly used include beams, floors, posts, paneling, brick and decorative items. Furniture can only be included if used consistently through credits MR3.1-MR7. MR3.1 must achieve 5% material re-use, while MR3.2 reuses 10%. Exemplary performance can be achieved with 15% material re-use.
