Typical incandescent exit sign light bulbs use an average of 35 watts of electricity, which translates into about $35 in electricity costs every year. Incandescent bulbs burn out every four months, requiring constant maintenance. When exit sign bulbs are burned out they pose a potential safety hazard if an emergency situation were to present itself. If you are replacing an incandescent exit sign with an exit sign you can expect to save about $45 annually per incandescent exit sign changed out to a exit sign.
