Indoor Environmental Quality Credit 8.1,8.2- Daylight & Views: Daylight 75% of Spaces, Views for 90% of Spaces
The defines the intent for EQ 8.1/8.2 as “providing the building occupants a connection between indoor spaces and the outdoors through the introduction of daylight and views into the regularly occupied areas of the building.” The AP and architect must identify the building as having daylight for 75% of the spaces for EQ 8.1. Calculations can be made using three different options: the glazing factor calculation, the daylight simulation model or daylight measurements. If you provide day lighting for 85% of occupied areas, you can achieve an exemplary point.
EQ 8.2 is achieved by providing views for 90% of the spaces in the building. Strategies to achieve this credit include automatic photocell-based controls, lower partition heights, and interior shading devices.
