Incandescent exit signs generally use 15-20 watts of energy per bulb, compared to LED exit signs, which use 1-5 watts per sign, or our LEC exit sign, which only uses 1/4th of a watt. 1. Tritium is an ideal option for locations where: it is difficult, costly, or impossible to supply electricity to a location, the environment contains materials or particles that can be ignited with electricity, the environment does not have enough light to charge a photoluminescent sign (i.e movie theater), or you do not want to pay for an electrician to install the sign. If you plan on being in a building for a long period of time, the trade-off is effective because non-electrical signs have no ongoing costs and last for 10,15 or 20 years, depending on the model.
2. Similar to tritium signs, photoluminescent signs need ambient light to charge, but are less expensive than tritium. Cutting-edge technology with phenomenal aesthetic appeal. Lasts 20+ years and is the most cost effective over time.
3. LED signs offer the widest variety of different models with the lowest up front costs. LED signs last from 8-10 years.
4. LEC signs are similar to LED but run on a lower wattage; LEC is the thinnest and most energy efficient electrical sign available.
