Green Exit Signs
Green exit signs are popular throughout the United States, Canada, and the world. A green light strip provides illumination and is located inside the unit. The light strip is installed before purchase and cannot be changed out. When you order an exit sign you can specify which color you would like, red or green.
Green exit signs are the most energy efficient exit signs in the world. They use between 2 and 4 watts of electricity to operate whereas red exit signs use between 4 and 5 watts of electricity to operate. The difference is small but if you have the choice of picking between the two, go with green LEDs. Always consult your local fire and/or building inspector to guarantee that green exit signs are code compliant for your facility.

Green exit signs come in three types of emergency power operation models. green exit sign models have a small battery pack located inside the unit which charges when hard wired and then provides a minimum of 90 minutes emergency operation power to the unit so that if the building’s power fails during a fire or other type of emergency the exit sign will remain illuminated.

AC only green exit signs hard wire to your electrical system just like models but do not contain packs. AC only exit signs can be installed only in buildings that have dedicated emergency power generators that keep the building’s electricity running when power to the facility is lost.
Dual circuit green exit signs feature two AC connections. These signs are for use in facilities that are wired with a main AC electrical circuit and emergency DC electrical circuit. High rise buildings and other types of commercial properties often use dual circuit systems.
