Glowing exit signs are exit signs that glow in dark conditions. Glowing exit signs most likely refer to photoluminescent exit signs, which use a glow-in-the-dark pigment that absorbs light and then releases it when that light becomes absent from the surrounding environment. Photoluminescent exit signs are non-electrical so they can be placed virtually anywhere.
