Glow dark exit signs are exit signs that glow in the dark. This type of non-electrical exit sign is commonly referred to as photoluminescent. Photoluminescent exit signs are popular for both high and low level applications. The non-electrical capability of photoluminescent exit signs makes installation easy. For exit sign install locations to which electricity is not easily accessible or available photoluminescent exit signs are a great choice. The Blade comes with an optional low profile brushed aluminum frame and includes installation hardware. The PLR has a 50-foot UL listed viewing distance and features a reverse screen-printed injection molded face with optional frame matched to the face color. The Greentorch PCX series is our commercial grade line of photoluminescent exit signs and comes in 50, 75, and 100-foot viewing distance versions. Most of our photoluminescent exit signs come both single and double-sided.

When installing a photoluminescent exit sign you need to make sure that there is five foot candles of light present on the face of the sign at all times when people are inside the building. Having five foot candles of light helps to insure code compliance. This foot candle measure can easily be taken with a light meter. You might also want to check with your local fire and/or building inspector to make sure that the placement and installation of your photoluminescent exit signs meets all codes and requirements.
