Fire Exit Sign

A fire exit sign most often refers to an emergency exit sign. An emergency exit sign is a sign that reads “EXIT” and is illuminated. Illuminated exit signs are placed in buildings, above doorways and throughout corridors, to guide patrons outdoors. When power is lost during a fire, earthquake, or other emergency exit signs remain illuminated while other lights might turn off. Exit signs are outfitted with powerful light sources so that they are visible from as far as 125 feet away in complete darkness. All exit signs must be tested and certified by UL (Underwriters Laboratories) to provide a minimum 90 minutes of illumination during emergency circumstances where AC power is lost. All Greentorch exit signs are UL Listed and come complete with a five-year warranty against manufacturing defects.Thermoplastic Combination Exit Sign

Illuminated exit signs have been in use for more than 75 years. Recent advancements in technology and materials have improved the efficiency and reliability of exit signs. LED (light emitting diode) technology has increased the energy efficiency of electrical exit signs 10 fold. For the longest time, incandescently illuminated exit signs were the norm. Consuming around 35 watts of power, incandescent exit signs used large amounts of electricity and required maintenance every four months because of short lamp lifespan. With the introduction of LEDs, nominal wattage has been dropped to an average of 3 watts and lifespan has been extended from four months to between 8 and 10 years. Greentorch uses the newest LED technology available.

The Greentorch EXIT series is our least expensive line of reliable LED exit signs. The thermoplastic housing is durable and flame-retardant to temperatures up to 176ºF. Available in colors of black or white, the EXIT series can be top, side, or back mounted with included hardware and easy-to-read instructions. The EXIT series is perfect for indoor retrofit projects that involve replacing incandescent exit signs. Combined annual energy and maintenance savings of $50 will be received per incandescent exit sign replaced with a LED exit sign. Starting at less than $20, the EXIT series pays for itself in less than 6 months through reduced operating costs.
