Exit lights can refer to two different safety egress products. Exit signs are signs that display the word “EXIT” and are placed throughout a facility and above doorways to show the exit pathway. The word “EXIT” is illuminated by a light source so that it is visible in dark and/or smoky conditions. Emergency lights are light fixtures during emergency situations. When an emergency presents itself and electrical power is lost, the lamp heads on the emergency lights turn on to illuminate the exit pathway.
