Credit 6- Green Power
Using grid-source technologies on a net zero pollution basis is the primary intent of EA6. EA6 closely interacts with EA2- On-site Renewable Energy. Many types of renewable energy’s, as defined by the CRS-Center for Resource Solutions, can help fulfill both credits. The owner is responsible for researching pricing for different power contracts to see what makes economical sense.
The building must provide a minimum 35% of the building’s electricity from renewable sources locked into a minimum of two-year contract. In order to determine the baseline electricity, use the results from EA Credit 1, or the numbers from the Department of Energy.
