Credit 5- Measurement & Verification
EA5 was made to check the building’s energy consumption over long periods of time. The mechanical engineer and facility engineer must complete the credit by the construction phase. The measurement and verification plan must be consistent with one of two options.
Option B is designed for smaller/simpler buildings, used primarily for isolating main energy systems. Option D is done through calibrated simulation, and is used for the whole building’s interactive systems. Options must meet code IPMVP (International Performance Measurement & Verification Protocol). Measurement and verification should cover a period of time over a year past post-construction occupancy.
