Energy and Atmosphere Prerequisite 2- Minimum Energy Performance

EA Prerequisite 2 is one of the easier credits to achieve, costing little to no money. With Option 1, the minimum level of energy efficiency must comply with the mandatory provisions of ASHRAE 90.1-2004 standard. With Option 2, the building’s project must meet the prescriptive or performance requirements of ASHRAE 90.1-2004 standard.

Certain systems of the building must meet requirements in order to comply with either of the options. Relevant systems include the building envelope, heating ventilation and air conditioning, service heating, lighting and power requirements. Decisions involved with this credit should go through the project’s mechanical engineer.
