Emergency Light Testing
Emergency light testing is required by (Occupational Safety and Health Association) to insure the functionality of emergency light fixtures during emergencies such as fires and earthquakes. laws mandate that the battery and lamps of each emergency light fixture must be tested for 90 seconds every month and 90 minutes once per year. The battery systems that require testing are certified by Underwriters Laboratories to last a minimum 90 minutes after AC power is lost. Emergency light units are easy to test, most feature a simple push-to-test button with indicator that lets you know when the unit is charging off of AC power or operating off battery power. When the push-to-test button is pressed in the unit switches to battery power and the lamps should illuminate. If the lamps do not illuminate while being tested then the unit’s battery or lamps are malfunctioning and/or damaged.

The option makes the unit test itself to standards and displays the results through red and green indicator lights. A glowing green means the unit is functioning properly while a glowing red means the unit is malfunctioning.
