Batteries have an average lifespan of about five years. If your unit is older than five years, check the battery first to make sure that it is working correctly.
Greentorch manufactures all types of emergency light bulbs, from basic to heavy-duty. Most use incandescent bulbs that are less than 20 watts while heavy-duty can use bulbs as large as 30 watts. Most high-end , such as low profile and recessed models, use MR16 compact MR16 lamps.

If you want to increase the power and luminosity of your emergency light fixture, simply replacing the bulb with a higher wattage version will not do the trick. The size and power of the internal battery that provides a minimum 90 minutes of emergency power is only designed for the bulbs that come with unit. If you want to increase the wattage of your lamp heads, you will also need to increase the battery size as well.
