Emergency Exit Alarm Sign
An emergency exit alarm sign most likely refers to an emergency exit sign combined with a visual and/or audible alarm. Adding a visual alarm to your exit sign increases its visibility during an emergency such as a fire or earthquake. Visual alarms can help those who are hearing impaired to find the exit pathway out of a building. Adding an audible alarm increases the audibility of an exit sign during an emergency situation. Visual alarms are also known as “flashers”. The term flasher refers to the flashing light that is emitted from the exit sign when an electronic signal is sent to the exit sign during an emergency. The flasher is a high-powered, compact light that can be seen from over 100 feet away.
Audible alarms are also known as “buzzers”. The term buzzer describes the noise that comes from the exit sign when activated during an emergency situation. The buzzer is a piercing sound that can be heard from over 100 feet away. Even if an exit sign is not visible, the buzzer can be heard through walls and doors, alerting those inside a room to the emergency.
