Where has this been installed?
The Planet Green television show called Alter-eco, hosted by Adrian Grenier used the product in the back yard of the Dundee home. (Links to Write Up on the home. -The Daily Green-, FlexYourPower.org) The Dundee home is a remodeled multi-million custom spanish style home in the hollywood hills that is the first LEED platinum Luxury custom home. The picture below shows that there are three trees, one taller on the left, on wider in the middle and one bearing more trunk on the right. The left tree is has just one light and it is illuminating both the trunk at the bottom of the tree, as well as the upper trunk portion, through the first set of branches. The Lumenterra® follows the trunk because of the narrow beam focus on the three high-powered LEDs. The twists and turns in the trunk and reflections from the leaves and branches scatters the light about, creating a nice trace effect, much like the stroke of a paint brush on a still-life forest tree line.

How did it contribute to the LEED platinum status?
Getting LEED points is about knowing how much is enough and then obtaining that with the least impact in the product's life cycle. The Lumenterra® is made of up aluminum, which has been recycled, and is recyclable. The 9 watts total per fixture makes beautifying your treescape with lighting nearly transparent to your lighting bill. Three fixtures used 27watts, which is about the same as one PAR38 CFL. I would argue that due in part to the design of the fixture, the usefulness or effectiveness per watt of the 9watts Lumenterra® is unmatched in traditional or CFL lighting. The fact that you can retrofit your existing system without having to swap the conduit or replace bulbs every year, makes this unit a simple way to simplify your system.
